Admissions Policy: Open to all members of the Inner Temple and to members of the other Inns of Court.  

 

Specialisations:  Commonwealth legislation and law reports, especially Canada, Hong Kong, Indian subcontinent, Caribbean.

Scottish law textbooks and journals.

Times Newspaper 1811-(from 1990 onwards on CD).
Bound volumes may not be copied.

Privy Council Judgments 1940 onwards.  

 

Loans: Law books: may be borrowed by Masters of the Bench of the Inner Temple for their own use.

Non-law books: with certain exceptions, these may be borrowed by Inner Temple barristers in private practice with chambers in London.  

 

Distance Services:

Photocopies (subject to copyright) sent by fax, post or email to all Inner Temple Benchers, to barrister members of the Inner Temple working outside central London and to barristers of other Inns when the material is not held by their own Library.

Photocopies can be obtained on behalf of Inner Temple barristers from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.

Online access to the four Inn Libraries’ catalogues. 

Internet subscription services available include: All England Direct, CLI Online, Criminal Law Week, Electronic Immigration Network, Halsbury’s Laws Direct, JustCite, Justis (The Law Reports, Weekly Law Reports, Family Law Reports, English Reports, Mental Health Reports, Police Reports, Prison Reports, Statutes, SIs, Celex), Lawtel, Legislation Direct, LexisNexis, Lloyd's Law Reports, The Times Digital Archive 1785-1985, The Times & Sunday Times (1992 onwards)  and Westlaw UK.

Courtel Communications: listing information for all the Crown and Combined Courts and the RCJ, plus some County Courts. 

Databases available on the catalogue server: Current Law Cases (digests of reported cases and newspaper law reports 1947-), Legal Journals Index (an index to UK and EC journals including case comments 1986-) and the Legal and Regulatory Developments Index (an index to supplementary legal material mid 1993-).

CD-ROMs include Archbold, Criminal Appeal Reports 1967- & Criminal Appeal Reports (Sentencing) 1979-, Current Legal Information, Kemp and Kemp Personal Injury Practice, The Times 1990-.  

 

Remote Access: Internet access to the catalogues of all four Inn Libraries is available at www.innertemplelibrary.org/external.html.  

The AccessToLaw web site, at www.accesstolaw.com, provides annotated links to over 1000 free web sites of legal interest.

The Current Awareness Weblog, available at www.innertemplelibrary.wordpress.com, provides up-to-date information on new case law, changes in legislation and legal news.
