A list of New Titles and New Editions received by the Library between October and December 2018 has just been published.

Law Society Library Access

Inns of Courts Members can use the Law Society Library on Friday 4 January 2019. Please email the Library first and if possible let them know which resource(s) you wish to refer to.

Christmas Opening Hours

The Library will close for Christmas at 2.00 p.m. on Friday 21 December and reopen at 9.00 a.m. on Monday 7 January 2019. This calendar gives the opening hours of all four Inn Libraries over the Christmas vacation.

Manuscript Display

There will be a rare opportunity for members and staff of the four Inns to see items from our manuscript and rare books collections, which will be on display in the Library on Wednesday 7 November from 2.30pm to 5pm, the afternoon of Grand Day.

Please note that the Library will be unavailable for research during that afternoon and evening.

A Reminder About Remote Access

We now subscribe to the Bloomsbury Professional Online Service which gives full text access to nearly 180 textbooks, loose-leafs and journals in over 20 practice areas including company and commercial, employment, environment, family,  personal injury, property and Scots law. The service is available within the Library and we also have a limited number of log-ins which allow us to make the service available to Inner Temple barrister members by remote access. Priority is being given to members outside London who are unable to visit the Library in person.

Please email bloomsbury@innertemple.org.uk if you are interested in accessing this service remotely.

Black History Month 2018

To mark Black History Month we have put together over 90 profiles of prominent members of the Inns of Court from across the globe. The profiles are now on display around the Library as well as in booklet format.

Library Newsletter Issue 54 – October 2018

The October issue includes details of a forthcoming exhibition of Library manuscripts and rare books; our current display marking Black History Month; recent and forthcoming events for the benefit of new students and pupils; and features on new acquisitions and on the United States section of AccessToLaw.

A list of New Titles and New Editions received by the Library between July and September 2018 has just been published.

Open Afternoons

On 25 September BPTC students in London and on 5 October BPTC students out of London are invited to open afternoons at the Library.

The events will last from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. and will begin in the Lawson Room, which is on the first floor just below the Library.

Attendees will be welcomed by Library staff who will explain about the services on offer to students and how the Library is arranged.

The afternoons will include tours, demonstrations of the databases and our web-based services. There will be an orientation quiz with a prize draw (3 course lunch for two with wine in Hall) for those who complete it. All attendees will receive a tote bag containing an assortment of free gifts.

Library Tours

The Library will be hosting tours for BPTC students from Monday 17 September to Friday 28 September 2018 from 10.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Tours take about 20 minutes; there is no need to book in advance. Just come in and speak to a member of staff at the Enquiry Point.

We are happy to give Library tours at any time throughout the year to students who are unable to visit during the period advertised, but those who take up the offer of a tour in September will also be given £5 of free photocopying credit.
